The Cornell Forensics (Speech & Debate) Society is one of the largest and most popular activites at Cornell. Our program features national, regional and local inter-collegiate competition in Individual Events and CEDA debate. Students also have the opportunity to participate in community service projects and become members of the national speech and debate honor society, Delta Sigma Rho - Tau Kappa Alpha. Students will learn to be effective communicators through all aspects of this program. Team members are given the opportunity to learn and adapt to a variety of audiences through their participation at competitive tournaments as well as through their presentations for local schools, service organizations, alumni, administrators, trustees, and Cornell classrooms. Undergraduates from all of Cornell's colleges, with or without prior speech or debate experience, may participate in this program. Forensics is a fun, educational activity that includes many leadership opportunites. As students help run this program team members assist in managing and organizing tournaments, arranging transportation to and from tournaments, and coordinating campus activities. |
